On April 7th, 2017 the Wentworth Military Academy (WMA) Board of Trustees voted to close the Academy.
The Wentworth Alumni Association has been working diligently on coordinating efforts and raising funds to establish a museum to preserve WMA’s special history.
You are a key component to helping us achieve our goal to preserve and sustain our proud history. As you make plans to pitch-in, please consider making a one time donation to help us purchase artifacts and acquire a permanent facility. If before July 4th, Old Boys and friends donate $25,000 toward the Museum fundraising effort, WMA alum Douglas Gourlay has agreed to match those donations dollar for dollar! We are well on our way to achieving that goal, but we need your help to get over the line! Please also consider enrolling in the Museum’s sustaining fund by joining the 1880 Society. Structured as a reoccurring $18.80 per month credit card donation, the sustaining funds will be used to help upkeep of WMA memorabilia for years to come.
Lastly, in an effort to keep the unified body of alumni informed and be transparent in the association’s efforts, the association organized various committees that convene weekly to discuss the plan, our progress, and receive/distribute information and updates.
Parting thoughts and a fantastic quote from Theodore Roosevelt that resonates with all of us:
“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
